Multiple improvements and exciting partnership

Many manufacturers in the metalworking industry know the frustration when a tool is not located where it should be, not ordered in on time - or an unnecessarily large range of cutting tools and other consumables has built up over time. These kinds of daily challenges slow down the process and cost unnecessary resources that could have been used much more optimally.

Sulzer, headquartered in Winterthur, Switzerland, is the global leader in critical solutions for core infrastructure and essential industries, with impressing manufacturing sites in many different countries around the world. Sulzer France in Saint Quentin are specializing in pumps industries.  Like many other Sulzer were familiar with time consuming tool management issues and wanted to improve their efficiency and optimise internal processes.

The circumstances led to an exciting partnership with Kyocera Unimerco and the collaboration has already resulted in multiple improvements in its first phases.

Challenges before the Tool Management Solution

Before implementing the Tool Management Solution, keeping track of tools was a challenge. Akim Guerda, Engineer Applicant at Sulzer explains: “Before, managing tools took around 60 hours per months – including stock analysis, ordering, purchasing, searching for tools, and administrative tasks. But thanks to automated Tool Management Solutions, these tasks were cut down by 80%, freeing up valuable time for other priorities.”
