High-speed drilling in aluminium with extremely long tool life

UM RapidDrill is designed for highly efficient and process-safe machining in aluminium alloys and now you can even add our newly developed C21 DLX coating technology and extend the tool life of the drill series even further.
 
High-speed UM RapidDrill with 3 cutting edges for stability and finishing quality

Developed with polished flutes, 150° point angle, internal coolant channels and robust design, this drill series takes your drilling process to a new level. Designed for high-speed machining of aluminium workpieces, the series guarantees a great finish, impressive roundness and process reliability.

UM RapidDrill is designed with easy-cutting geometries for machining various aluminium alloys in demanding environments and is available as standard in dimensions Ø4 - 20 mm as 5×D, 8×D and 12×D (0.1 mm steps - Ø/mm), or as customised solutions from Ø3.3 - 32 mm - for example step drill types.

 

 

With our 3-cutting edge solution (Z3), you can significantly increase process speed compared to conventional 2-cutting edge solutions, without compromising on hole quality or process stability. UM RapidDrill ensures high-quality hole finish with minimal burrs on the entry and exit side - and the standard type can drill up to 700,000 holes before Re•New. Normally these drills can undergo Re•New up to 5 times, resulting not only in extremely long service life, but also greatly reduced tool costs and lower Co2 emissions. This way you achieve reduced unit costs, increased bottom line and an improved carbon footprint.

New C21 DLX-coating

In addition, it is possible to add our brand new C21 DLX coating technology to UM RapidDrill, which is a new and extremely hard coating type that significantly increases tool life, productivity and application areas. C21 DLX is a DLC-like coating that can be used on carbide tools for non-ferrous metals, as well as for tooling solutions in the wood industry, and has a very low coefficient of friction. This newly developed coating type makes the tool resistant to heat, preventing soft aluminium alloys from sticking and maintaining good chip control, feed rate and process reliability.
