Documented Results – and Ambitious Goals

We believe in real, verifiable actions.

Proven Impact and future targets

It is essential for us to work purposefully and ambitiously on our ESG profile. We are proud of the results we have already achieved, while maintaining a clear ambition to continuously evolve. That is why we challenge ourselves, think innovatively, and consistently raise the bar for how we can create an even greater positive impact on the environment, people and society.

EcoVadis

The Kyocera Group is EcoVadis-rated and recognized for its dedicated sustainability efforts.
The assessment covers the entire group – including Kyocera Unimerco, where we adhere to the same ambitious standards. Please note, that the medal has been awarded to KYOCERA CORPORATION (GROUP) and does not represent the rating of Kyocera Unimerco as a separate legal entity. You can see our rating here.

Our Climate Ambitions

We are working toward the Kyocera Group’s SBTi-certified climate targets, which commit us to reducing CO₂ emissions (Scope 1, 2, and 3) by 46.2% by the 2030/31 fiscal year, using 2019/20 as the baseline.

Scope 1

  • Our CO₂ reduction target for 2030/31: -46.2%
  • Our FY2026 status: -41.3% CO₂ reduction
  • Our energy reduction target 2030/31: -30%
  • Our FY2026 status: -43.4% energy reduction.
  • Progress: Significant improvements through energy-efficient processes and reduced fuel consumption.

Scope 2 - electricity

  • Our CO₂-reduction target for 2030/31: -46.2%
  • Our FY2026 status: -49.0% CO₂ reduction
  • Our energy reduction target for 2030/31: -30%
  • Our FY2026 status: +4%
  • Progress: Reduction achieved through optimization and an increased share of self-produced renewable energy.

Note: Scope 1 and 2 cover energy consumption for electricity, heating, cooling, and fuel used by company vehicles across our operations.

Own Renewable Energy

  • Our Target for 2030/31: 20% of total electricity consumption.
  • Our Status FY2026: 17.4% of our total electricity consumption comes from our own solar panels.
  • Progress: Solar energy from facilities in Denmark, the USA, and Germany — the share is increasing year by year.

Scope 3 – Value Chain

  • Our CO₂ reduction target for 2030/31: -46.2%.
  • Our FY2026 status: -33.6% reduction in CO₂ emissions
  • Progress: Collaboration with suppliers and customers to achieve reductions across the value chain.

Scope 3 emissions are currently estimated using a spend-based methodology with emission factors from CEDA by Watershed. The calculation methodology is under review and may be refined as data quality and calculation methods develop. For this reason, Scope 3 performance is currently presented as a percentage change from the baseline year.

Targeted Energy Savings Bring Us Closer to Our Climate Goals

Our overall results show that since 2019/20, we have reduced our energy consumption by 19.53%, contributing to a total CO₂ reduction of 42.37% for Scope 1 + 2.

Through focused energy savings and optimization, we continue working toward our SBTi targets.

No Clima Compensation

We believe that real sustainability requires more than just offsetting. That’s why we do not use climate compensation as a solution, but instead focus on concrete, documented actions within our own value chain. This includes everything from optimizing energy consumption and material choices to collaborating with suppliers and partners who share our ambitions for a more responsible future.
